Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser

SIH team members came together in a powerful display of generosity and commitment at the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in Carbondale on Feb. 22, benefiting the Carbondale Warming Center.

Collectively, SIH contributed more than $8,500 to support the center’s mission of providing shelter, meals, and essential services to those in need. Our SIH system team raised $2,500, and SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale’s Mission and Values team contributed another $1,000. Combined with SIH’s $5,000 sponsorship, these funds will help make a meaningful impact on our unhoused community members.

A Lifeline for Those in Need

SIH has worked closely with the Carbondale Warming Center, serving as a vital link for at-risk individuals seeking support. Over the last few years, SIH has helped connect approximately 1,200 individuals with the resources provided by the center.

At the event’s opening ceremony, SIH Chief Development Officer Woody Thorne emphasized the ongoing need for support:

“This is a phenomenal day for us to come together and work to help to meet the needs of those here in Carbondale and in our surrounding communities. At SIH, our hospitals are often the first line of defense for those that are unhoused. We have an interest in making a difference here in the lives of those we serve.

This doesn’t have to be the end of that fundraising. There’s a need that goes on every day, every week, every month. So consider that as you reflect on your philanthropic support throughout the year. On behalf of SIH and all of our team members, thank you very much for your support of the Carbondale Warming Center.

Still Time to Give

The Carbondale Warming Center aims to raise $100,000 by March 31 to continue its life-changing work. Donations are still being accepted—every contribution helps provide shelter, meals, and hope to those facing hardship.
