Pediatric Rehabilitation

When your child is hurting, we’re here to heal. We know you’ll want an “all hands on deck” approach when it comes to treating your child, so that’s why our pediatric rehabilitation team consists of occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech and language therapists.

We work with children who have a variety of diagnosis and developmental issues. We also know that you might feel scared or overwhelmed when you first learn about your child’s issue. That’s why we’ll be here to guide you through our services, which include: evaluations, individual treatment, parent training and educational support.

Here’s a sampling of the conditions we treat:

  • Autism
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Developmental delay
  • Fine motor deficits
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Torticollis

Pediatric rehabilitation might be the best option for your child if they were born premature, they haven’t caught up to their developmental milestones or they have a birth defect. The reason why occupational therapy is important is because it can help your child address the following issues:

  • Behavioral difficulties
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Handwriting
  • Self-care, play and socialization
  • Sensory processing

“I enjoy seeing children reach their developmental milestones,” says Angela Tanner, a physical therapist assistant at SIH Herrin Hospital. “I also like seeing the excitement on a parent’s face when they see their child take a step or sit up properly.”
