Mission in Motion - Report to the Community

Mission in Motion

At SIH, mission is central to our culture. Our dedication to provide care to all people in the communities we serve goes beyond the walls of our facilities into at-risk neighborhoods, schools, faith communities, business, industry and so much more. You’ll see evidence of this in Mission in Motion, our new online flipbook, highlighting patient triumphs, accredited and award-winning services and many collective accomplishments. This new format includes video which you can easily view and share.

In this inaugural issue of Mission in Motion:

  • Meet Maverick, a spirited youngster who is thriving today thanks in large part to his pediatric physical therapy team at SIH Outpatient Rehabilitation in Energy,
  • We’ll introduce a Carbondale woman who has a skip back in her step after successful spine surgery relieved chronic pain,
  • Melanie Emery of Marion and Beth Roberts of Johnston City share their radically different experiences with heart disease,
  • We spotlight a living example of service above self from our radiation oncology team at the SIH Cancer Institute and their path to a prestigious national accreditation,
  • A profile of the Wellness on Wheels, or WOW van, sheds light on this valuable mobile medical response unit and how it functions to improve community health and reduce disparities,
  • We celebrate our longstanding collaboration with Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, where we cheered on the first graduating class from the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and a unique partnership with Saluki Athletics called Rally Around the Pound, a concerted effort with college athletes to reduce stigma around mental health.
